Bidor Duck Noodle

I use to have my breakfast here everytime I go back to Kedah, I wonders when it became my weird habit :/

It established in Bidor Perak since the 1940, Pun Chun Restaurant is a must stop destination for all good food fanatics. As not many people know about Bidor town, but Pun Chun Restaurant always full due to its famous Duck Drumstick Noodle, Wantan Noodle and not forgetting the all time famous Chicken Biscuit and Shat Kek Ma.
This noodle hous span 2 shop lots, side by side. One selling special biscuit like Chicken Biscuit, Shat Kek Ma, satay fish and some more. The other shop cook and sells the famous duck drumstick noodle. Beside their famous Duck Drumstick noodle, they also serve wan tan mee, BBQ Pork Mee, Shredded chicken with mushroom mee, dry curry mee and other.
That day was a early weekday so we still can find a seat easily. It's totally different if it was a busy weekend.

TADANG!! It's my order : Duck Drumstick Noodle (RM 8) Their duck noodles remain as one of the best on my list, though the quality and quantity somehow dwindled over the years. Oh, and the price is escalating no less. You get a whole drumstick that has been sufficiently marinated and roasted/fried, served with egg noodles (wantan mee-type), vegetables and lots of herbs in the soup, providing an aromatic, calming concoction of herbal goodness. Finish the soup with ease of mind, as no MSG is added, supposedly. I love the herbal soup, taste sweet and still can find the complete longan and others chinese herbal in the soup. The duck was steamed until soft and tender, we can shred the meat easily. I saw some people order the dried version, it comes with dry noodle and with a bowl of soup, I think I should be very nice too.
Hubby's dry Char Siew wantan mee. But I prefer the duck noodle.....lol
A perfect day always start from a cup of coffee. Fyi, I know I'm addicted to coffee.
A lady busy blanching noodles for orders that came in non-stop.

So many drumstick !!! To complete the order, individual double-boiled duck thighs are taken from a huge cooker and served together. Double boiling ensures that no water loss will occur and it also locks in the flavor and essence of the ingredients.

Along the street where Pun Chun is located at, there are many fruit stalls with Petai and Jambu (stink beans) being the majority. Anyway, I was quite happy with the duck thigh noodles dished out by Pun Chun. But I think their quality dropped a lil bit since I ate many years ago.

This made me wonder, if the food is already good before the quality went down, I can only imagine how great it was back in the years. I think the key is to try these rare and traditional foods as quick as you can to capture its taste at the possible best. Do you agree?
